Gwar Guitarist Cory Smoot aka Flattus Maximus Dies on Tour [Video]

GWAR guitarist Cory Smoot, who played Flattus Maximus, was found dead by bandmates as they toured for their most recent album, Bloody Pit of Horror earlier today while traveling to a gig in Canada.

Cory played guitar and was best known by his stage name, Flattus Maximus. He was found dead as the band was traveling from Minneapolis to Edmonton, Canada for an upcoming show according to a rep for the band.

GWAR lead singer David Brockie says in a statement, "There is no word as to the cause of death and the members of GWAR are completely shocked and devastated that this has occurred." Gwar is trending after a guitarist for the satirical heavy metal band was found dead.

The band is known for its elaborate sci-fi-meets-horror film costumes, as well as their morally and politically charged themes.

David Brockie, said in a statement, "It is with a sense of profound loss and tragedy that the members of Gwar must announce the passing of their longtime guitarist and beloved friend Cory Smoot." The cause of death is not yet known.
